What is Skittles' slogan? Taste the rainbow? YEP! Using Sweet Treat Cups filled with Skittles, we created a cool hot air balloon for one lucky birthday girl/boy. This is another way to create your own paper to suit your project. Cut strips of scrap cardstock into 1/4" and 1/2" wide strips. Glue them down onto a sheet of cardstock cut to the size you need making sure each strip is flush against the previous strip. Make it random and have some fun!

It's a flower punch, no wait, it's a butterfly punch! It's two punches in one! Using the Blossom Punch, cut two opposite petals out of the flower. Don't cut all the way to the middle... Leave enough in the middle to insert a brad or add a rhinestone.

Distressed Corkboard

I needed a corkboard above my desk to display cards and put reminders, but I didn't just want a plain old corkboard. So, using a cheap can of flat-black spray paint, painter's masking tape and our very own Mostly Vintage Decor Stencil, I got to work. When I was all done, I used some sand-paper and distressed the frame and also the corkboard itself to make it look worn through time and not so newly-painted and fresh. I really love how this turned out and it goes perfectly with my decor!

The new Sizzix Framelits are so neat! We created this card using 3 of the largest Framelits. The largest one is just shy of a normal sized card, so they fit in the envelope really well. It was really fun to keep the card hinged by not cutting that side of the card. Cool, cool!

I received the COOLEST email this morning. At first though, I almost deleted it because it wasn't from someone I knew... But fate interfered and instead of deleting it, it opened up on accident. So, since it was already open, I read through it and it just made my day! I am SO glad it didn't get deleted!

You've heard me say it before, and it's just the same now as it was when I first got this set: I LOVE LOADS OF LOVE! This is a simple, yet elegant way to wish someone Happy Holidays. I just love the Big Shot! Have I said that before? :) Very minimal stamping on this card. Just add some ink with a dauber to each snowflake and it looks stamped, too! Add a rhinestone to the center of each snowflake and VOILA! A sparkling card!

Quilly Christmas!

I have always wanted to try quilling. It's a technique that is AMAZING! You take thin strips of paper, roll them up like a roll of paper towels and then shape those scrolls into shapes. I tried my had at this technique, but it's definitely something I need practice on. Here's my sample:

How about a twist in the traditional Fall/Thanksgiving colors? Bravo Burgundy and Calypso Coral may not come up on your list of colors you'd use, but look how AMAZING they are together! How'd I get the Top Note die smaller? Cut two small strips of paper and just lay them on the edges of the die... they fit as the mat under another image... No one will know! :)

Resisted Tree

Stamp class was on 10/21/11 and we had a great time! This tree was created by clear, heat-embossing on Whisper White cardstock and then using 3 colors: More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Soft Suede, we draw random lines with daubers and then darken the lines by going over them multiple times. When you are done, spritz the card with Stampin' Mist and wipe away the excess color with a napkin. This is a magical technique when it's done. So pretty!

Shiny gold leaves... Oh how that makes me love Fall! Gold heat embossing is great to add elegance and wow to any card! Using Versamark, stamp the image on the color paper of your choise, pour gold embossing powder over the Versamark, tap away excess and then heat... watch the dull ugly powder turn bright and shiny gold! Magical!
