Butterfly Convention Swap

SWAP!  I forgot about my SWAP!  At the Convention each year, Demonstrators from ALL OVER come and one of the main things we do is swap.  We create the fronts of a card and then swap them with other demonstrators to share ideas and inspiration.  This year I created 100 swaps.  (the last convention I created 250! EEK!)  So, after swapping all my cards, I have come home with 100 new ideas to use and share.

Here was my personal swap... I decided I wasn't going to buy a thing, but I didn't have enough to make all the same color, so I made 5 different colors based on which cardstock I had the most of... smart, huh?  :)

This swap used Tangelo Twist, but I also made Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Rose Red and Lost Lagoon.  Shame on me for not getting pictures of all the colors, but all the cards had the same layout just different color butterflies and base card.

Stamp Set:
Butterfly Basics

Any color for base and butterflies, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla

Cozy Christmas

The stamp set and paper I have used in this sample have a very fun vintage feel to them.  The Designer Series Paper reminds me of old wrapping paper from my younger years and the stamp set sentiments also have that vintage flair.

Available on September 1st:
  • Cozy Christmas stamp set (wood or clear mount)
  • Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP) - The Santa is cut out from one of the sheets!
  • Home for Christmas Designer Buttons - the poinsettia is adorable, right?
  • Very vanilla 1-1/4" Subtle Stripes Satin Ribbon - VERY subtle striping and beautiful!
At the Stampin' Up! 2015 Convention, we were given so many sneak peeks of the upcoming 2015 Holiday Catalog and we were able to play with the a few of the items!  I love that this card features quite a few of the new items.  This was originally made as a tag, but I decided to mount it to a card instead.  Either way works beautifully!

Here is the tag we made at the Stampin' Up! 2015 Convention.

And here, I have mounted the tag to a card to create another something special.  The Old Olive cardstock layer has been scored in a grid pattern and then distressed by crumpling the paper and rolling the corners and edges.  Kind of a cool effect!
I can't wait to share this Holiday Catalog with you!  Come to my next class and I will have them out for you to peruse as well as all the swaps I have from the Convention!

Your Presents

When I choose a stamp set, I ask myself how I can use it.  Is this just a one-occasion set, or are there other ways to incorporate it into my year?  If you are just starting out with stamping, look for sets that can be used all year long.  You'll be surprised at how many ideas are out there when you just search for the name of the stamp set you are wanting to buy online.  Just adjusting the color scheme can transform a Christmas card into a Birthday card.  Be creative!  Just the simple act of creating a hand-made card will make any recipient grateful that you spent the time thinking of them!

Here are more samples of the "Your Presents" stamp set that will be available on September 1, 2015.  As I mentioned in the previous post, this is a year-round stamp set.  The two handmade cards are what we created at the Stampin' Up! 2015 Convention as our Make-n-Takes and I just love the varied ideas on the same stamp set!

Birthday Packages

The Stampin' Up! convention is sadly over.  I had a great time in Salt Lake City, UT with my Demonstrator friends and I learned a lot at the same time.

Part of the fun of Convention is getting the awesome bag and the free goodies as well as cheering on our fellow demonstrators and their accomplishments.  This year, in addition to the bag, we received a whole pack of the upcoming Holiday Catalogs!  I won another stamp set and all attendees received a newly formulated Basic Black Archival Ink stampin' pad.  I have used the stamp pad already and I LOVE the full BLACK color of the image!  I know you'll love it!

I have put together a sample using the stamp set we got with our bag at check in called Your Presents.  Although featured in the Holiday Catalog with a holiday themed card, this stamp set can be used all year long for birthdays, anniversaries or baby showers.  A technique that goes really well with this stamp set is the kissing technique which is the process of stamping one stamp onto another stamp and then putting that down on cardstock.. so fun and the possibilities are endless!

Let me know what you think!

Washi-Tape Birthday

I have a really good friend (and downline) who despises torn washi tape. She will cut the edges straight and then place even though the card has torn washi-tape.  I have been planning how her birthday card would look for almost a year now.

You can guess my inspiration, right?

It HAD to have TORN washi-tape... and not just a little.

I have to say that it actually turned out really cute (in my eyes) and I was really excited to give it to her today.

Happy birthday, Pam!  Lots of love and birthday wishes to you!

Mint Tin Album

I love being inspired!  Every two months, as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I receive a magazine geared toward our business... but included in this is also many inspirational ideas.

This issue got me creating an album in a mint tin... Here's the idea:

Since I have saved a few tins... I felt I needed to save them for something since they are so cool... Who would've thought?!

Here is what I created:
Closed tin.  I sanded down the paint all over the tin so that they adhesive would stick.
I cut a long piece of cardstock; 12"x 3-1/2" and scored every 2" so there are 6 panels...
How the album looks as you pull it out of the tin.
DECORATE!!!  I made a couple pocket panels... There's room for a few small photographs.  I did not decorate the back of the panels though... I felt they might make it too thick to fit properly.  But you definitely COULD if you'd like!

This was a super-fun project and I plan on making a class of this.  It took only a few measurements and only a little bit of paper and a few embellishments, but the impact is HUGE!  Imagine adding a gift card to one of the little pages... Birthday?  Anniversary?  Graduation?  The possibilities are ENDLESS!

Here's the stuff you'll need (you can use whatever paper and stamps you like... I listed what you would need but then also what I used):

One mint tin

Any stamp set you like!

-(I used Calypso Coral as the accordion)

White Perfect Accents (NEW!)

Graduation Announcements

My eldest daughter will be graduating from high school this year (in just a couple weeks!) and, of course, I CANNOT buy pre-made announcements... We must create them!  It's what us stampers do!

It started with inspiration from the Occasions Mini 2015 catalog and then went from there.  It ended  up being a 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" finished card so I had to make matching envelopes with the envelope punch board which I added the Gold embossed banner to the outside front, bottom left-side of the envelope and just the cap to the back side flap above the return address.

Outside of card
Outside of card without the belly-band
Inside of card
Close-up of the Gold banner on right side - Gold embossed on Gold Foil paper - SO AWESOME!
Stamp Set:
Class of 2015
Sophisticated Serifs

Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White cardstock
Gold Foil Sheets

Confetti Stars Border Punch
Gold Metallic Baker's Twine
Gold 1/8" Ribbon
Scoring Tool
Corner Round Punch
Gold Embossing powder
Heat Gun

Kinda Eclectic

I really love this stamp set, Kinda Eclectic... It's kind of... eclectic!  You can layer it up or simplify with just a few images.  I did manage to use each of the images in this set on this single card which just makes me happy... It's not too much and I love the layers!  I used all but one of the 2014-2016 In-Colors as well which really look fantastic stamped together.

Technique idea:  When you stamp floral images in groups, try stamping once with the full ink from the pad and then stamp a second time without reinking the stamp and you'll get a lighter image that perfectly coordinates and adds more dimension!

Stamp Set:
Kinda Eclectic

Very Vanilla and Mossy Meadow cardstock
Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist Stampin' Pad

3/8" stitched satin ribbon (Blackberry Bliss)
Elegant Butterfly punch
Bitty Butterfly punch
2-1/2" Circle punch
Pearl Basic Jewels

Patriotic Card

This card can be used for just about anything.  The "HOPE" saying could be switched out for whatever occasion you need it for... How about Graduation?  These colors also happen to be my daughter's high school colors... I love cards that have multiple occasion uses.

Technique Idea:  The Banner punch is a bit short and doesn't fit many words, however, if you cut a strip of paper approx 5/8" wide and then stamp your saying on that strip... Feed just the end of the strip that needs to be cut into the punch from underneath and punch the notched end only.  This is also a great idea for those punches with a decorative edge... do that same thing to get a unique edge!

Stamp Set:
Be the Star
Gorgeous Grunge

Real Red, Night of Navy and Whisper White cardstock
Real Red, Night of Navy Stampin' Pad

White embossing powder and heat gun
Paper Snips
1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon
Banner punch

Lumberjack Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!  (I know we are still a little bit away from that holiday, but we must think ahead, right?!)

I made this card just for this occasion... Simple layout, simple design... Just perfect for those fathers out there!

The Occasion mini is about ready to leave us, so I had to use this guy before he's gone for good!

Wood You Be Mine

Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Lost Lagoon and Very Vanilla cardstock
Soft Suede Stampin' Pad

I'm back!!

Good afternoon!

2014 was a busy, crazy year!  So many changes in my life and Stampin' Up! had to take the back burner.  Now that things have settled, I will be easing back into the swing of things.  Posting to my blog frequently and starting up classes again are first on the list!

I am now working a graveyard shift and on my days off, I have LOTS of hours to myself while the family sleeps... it's hard to switch to a normal schedule on my 3 days off, so I keep my schedule, and I get REALLY bored at night...Time to STAMP again!  I can only watch so much tv or browse Pinterest for so long... and Facebook never updates that time of night - NO ONE IS AWAKE!  haha!
So it's back to Stampin!

I am also in the process of opening up an Etsy shop for all my cards and project I have created.
AND, my number one goal:  To send the cards I make!!  Such a strange thing to make so many beautiful things and then for them to get put into a box and never see the light of day again.
So bear with me for the next couple weeks while things get up and going again... I CAN'T WAIT!

Happy Stampin'!

How about that picture? ! It's like my birthday everytime I get a box from Stampin' Up!
