Wow, what an end of summer! BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! I recently accepted a full-time position at my work, and between kids' things and my things and vacation things, these blog things went to the back burner!
While on vacation in San Francisco, our car window was broken and my purse was stolen.. cell phone, credit cards, license.. etc. I have just finally had the last of the items replaced, including my cell phone (cha-ching!), and things are finally getting back to normal.
Stay tuned for all the cards I have been making over the past few weeks!
I was going through some bags and organizing when I came across an unmade card from a stamp camp... likely from last year (I can't remember). This card was made using elements from our retired Simply Sent collections. We don't carry Simply Sent kits anymore but we still have the Simply Scrappin' collections where you get all the elements to make scrapbook pages... easily convertable to cards! See page 165 in the 2012-2013 Idea Book and Catalog. What?! Don't have a catalog? Let's get together! I have one for you!

Here is this week's challenge:
***I found it funny that after going back to SQSC's website to get a copy of the image for this challenge layout for this post, I noticed another entry also used the same Lovely as a Tree stamp set... Just a coincidence, I promise! I don't scroll down on purpose when looking at the challenge layout because I really believe in coming up with my own ideas, but I think it's great that the layout inspired two individuals to use the same stamp set! :)
Lovely as a Tree
Paper and Ink:
Early Espresso, Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake cardstock
Early Espresso Stamp Pad
5/8" Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon
Bleach, Paper towel and plastic plate
The regular CD's (the slightly green tinted ones) are one layer of plastic and just a coating on the bottom. When you cut a butterfly out of one of those, the backing could peel off, for one, but what you cut is what you get. There won't be any change. They are great for making all kinds of neat things and for also peeling off the backing and adding your own Designer Series Paper.
But when you cut a BluRay disc, they are constructed of two pieces of plastic with the coating between the layers. What happens when you cut it is amazing: The two layers will come apart and on one side, you'll have most of the coating with this cool watermarked BLUE metallic layer and on the other layer, the coating will be purple watermarked and the butterfly will be mostly clear! Give it a try! Don't mind the creaking and cracking as you run the discs through the Big Shot... I scared a BUNCH of guests at my last class!

The theme of this month's Stamp Class was all about the new 2012-2013 In-Colors.
I decided this year to try it out. The challenge: Create 5 handmade cards, 3 scrapbook pages and 2 3-D items. I cannot show what I entered, but they are in this room somewhere!
They were supposed to have 20 finalists picked by the 15th, and when I didn't receive a phone call yesterday, I sadly figured that I wasn't part of the 20. But then, on Facebook, Stampin' up! posted that there was a delay min the judging and the winners will be notified by next week instead! Oh the pins and needles continue and my hope is renewed! From the 20 finalists, there will be another judging and the group will be composed of 10 super-talented Demonstrators who get to play for the next year with amazing Stampin' Up! product providing inspiration for all!
